GradQuant Programming in Fall

By Yelda Serin |

Are you new to graduate school and just starting a project? Are you deep into your research and analyzing data even in your dreams? Don’t feel alone or overwhelmed; GradQuant is here to help. GradQuant offers training to UCR graduate students and postdoctoral researchers on probability and statistical inference, statistical software and computing, data management, digital humanities, and professional ethics in the management and analysis of data. We’re here to support you from the initial stages of experimental design to the final stages of data analysis and reporting throughout graduate school.

Workshops

In our workshops, we cover a wide variety of topics from statistics to programming languages at both beginner and advanced levels. You can find our fall workshop calendar here.

Suggest a workshop topic: If there is a workshop topic we are not currently offering that you would like us to cover, feel free to let us know here. We’ll do our best to include your suggested topics in our workshop schedules in upcoming quarters.

Request a workshop: We hold our workshops in our classroom in Life Sciences Room 1425, but if you want us to come to you, you may request a workshop here. We’ll come to your department at a time that works for you to present a workshop.

Watch workshop recordings: What if you really want to attend a workshop, but you are not available at the scheduled day and time? Don’t worry; we’ve got your back! If you miss a GradQuant workshop, you can always visit our Previous Workshop Resources page to access an archive of workshop slides and videos. From here, you can watch the workshop whenever it works best for you. Note that UCR CAS login is required to access this page.

One-on-one consultations (in-person and online)

In GradQuant, we offer 20- and 50-minute individual consultations, both in-person and online, to provide more in-depth assistance with your quantitative needs. Go to our online appointment platform, WC Online, see available appointments, and schedule your individual consultation with a GradQuant consultant whose expertise matches your area of concern.

Drop-in hours

If our one-on-one consultation appointments don’t work for you, visit us during  drop-in hours. Scheduled daily, drop-in hours provide you with a time when you can stop by GradQuant to talk to a consultant without an appointment. You may stay for 5 minutes or for the whole duration of drop-in hours; whatever works for you. Remember, during drop-in hours it’s “first-come, first-served.”

Digital Humanities (DH) Program and DH Fellowship

GradQuant provides support, resources, workshops, and a fellowship in digital humanities to graduate students in social sciences and the humanities using digital research methods in their studies. Visit our DH page to learn more about our DH program.

GradQuant offers a Digital Humanities Fellowship that sends two to four UCR graduate students to the Digital Humanities Summer Institute at the University of Victoria in British Columbia. Check out the fellowship information here and apply by midnight on October 13th.
