GradQuant Programming for Fall 2022

By Jason Chou |

It’s the beginning of fall quarter and GradQuant has a swell lineup of programming to jumpstart your year. When it comes to data analysis, GradQuant is a valuable resource for UCR graduate students and postdocs. If you’re not familiar with GradQuant, here is an introduction to our staff and services.

GradQuant Consultants

At the core of GradQuant programming is our team of consultants. GradQuant consultants are advanced graduate students who together have expertise on a wide range of statistics and programming specialties. Visit our staff webpage and meet our consultants!

If you want to join our team of GradQuant consultants, look for our hiring announcements on our website, follow us on social media through GradSuccess (Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram), and subscribe to the GradQuant Newsletter.

Workshops

Every quarter, GradQuant offers workshops on specific statistics and programming topics. This fall, GradQuant consultants will be giving a lot of introductions… but on a wide variety of topics:

  • Introduction to R
  • Introduction to Python
  • Introduction to ImageJ
  • Introduction to LaTeX
  • Introduction to MATLAB

For those who are looking for more than introductions, GradQuant consultants will also conduct workshops on some advanced topics:

  • Multilevel/Mixed Models
  • Linear Models in R
  • Data Visualization in R
  • Categorical Data Analysis

Recordings of past workshops are online at our Previous Workshops Resources page. Access to these recordings requires signing in to your UCR student, staff, or faculty account.

One-on-One Consultations

There’s more! GradQuant consultants also… consult! You can make 20 or 50-minute appointments to get help tackling your statistics and programming challenges. While our consultants may be able to enlighten you on the meaning of life, we ask them to keep the discussions focused on the statistical and programming needs of your research. Make your appointment online at ucr.mywconline.com.

Drop-In Hours and Hacky Hours

GradQuant also has drop-in hours for your at-the-moment needs. There is no appointment necessary, so check for our drop-in times on our website, where you can also find the link that connects you to Matt, our GradQuant Lead Consultant. (Just so you know, drop-in hours the fall are Thursdays, 10am to 12pm beginning September 29th and ending December 8th. You’re welcome, Matt.)

If you can’t make the Drop-In Hours, try jumping into one of this quarter’s Hacky Hours. Kat Koziar, data librarian with the UCR Library, and Matt are available Tuesdays, 1pm to 3pm. You’ll find the link to the Hacky Hours session on our website as well.
